Look at these cute hairstyles for girls! Wow!
When you have a daughter, there’s always that urge to try out the cutest hairstyles once their hair gets long enough!
But seeing a hairstyle on Pinterest and trying to get to work on your child’s head are often two different things.
Between your fingers not cooperating to your child getting anxious, it’s not always easy to pull off cute hairstyles for girls.
Don’t worry!
I’ve come up with some super easy hairstyles for girls that won’t leave you and your little one frustrated.
With the right supplies on hand (which I’ll talk about, too), you’ll be well on your way to creating some super adorable hairstyles.
Let’s get started!
Girls’ Hairstyles Tips
Before you get started on these super cute hairstyles for girls, here are some awesome tips you should check out:
- Don’t choose anything too complicated. Sure, practice makes perfect, but your test subject may not have the patience to sit through your attempts at a fancy hairstyle.
- Choose easy hairstyles for gurls that will last a couple of days. Since kids often don’t need their hair washed every day, invest in a hairstyle that will hold up for a while.
- Get the right gear. Make sure you have brushes, combs (especially a tail comb), elastics, and bobby pins on hand when creating these cute hairstyles for girls. Small rubber elastics, like the ones kids use on their braces, are also a must-have!
For girls with particularly tangly hair, have some detangling spray on hand as well.
My daughter has long hair and it often gets tangles. I found this detangler works wonders!
But, you can even make your own by mixing conditioner and water in a spray bottle!
Dry shampoo is helpful as well to keep hair from getting too dirty too fast.
You can apply it on the day of or use it in freshly washed and almost dry hair.
Lastly, hair clips and other adornments can take these easy hairstyles for girls to the next level with a fancy look!
My daughter is into scrunchies lately and found these one she likes the most.
Cute and Easy Hairstyles for Girls
So, let’s check out some easy hairstyles for girls that you can try out.
1. Sock Bun
Perhaps one of the easiest hairstyles for girls is the classic sock bun!
Cut the two out of a sock and roll it inside out to make a tube.
Make a high ponytail and pull the end of the ponytail through the sock tube, rolling the tips of the hair over the tube to the base of the ponytail. Use bobby pins to keep it in place.
Alternatively, you can also place the tube at the base of the ponytail and wrap the hair around the sock, using an elastic to keep it in place.
2. French Braid
The French braid is a classic braid that can be used to create tons of cute hairstyles for gurls, but also looks beautiful on its own!
Gather hair at the top of the head and divide it into three sections.
As you braid the hair, add in small pieces of hair from the side you are braiding from.
Repeat until all of the hair is braided.
3. Faux Waterfall Braid
Not everyone’s fingers can coordinate to create a real waterfall braid.
So why not fake it?
You can create a fake waterfall braid by starting a simple French braid on one side and working it along the back of the head.
Drop a strand of hair from the bottom loop of the braid each time you crisscross the hair in order to create the waterfall look.
4. Triple-Braid Bun
You can really create some elegant and cute hairstyles for girls without curling irons and tons of hairspray.
To create a triple-braid bun, start with three braids at the nape of the neck.
Pin each braid into a bun and fluff it out, so the braids overlap each other.
You can add some fancy hair clips for a formal look.
5. Double Braid Twist
Start with two ponytails, one toward the top of the head and to the left, the other toward the bottom and to the right.
Braid the bottom ponytail and twirl it into a bun, securing it with a bobby pin.
Braid the top ponytail and wrap the braid around the bottom bun. Tuck and secure with bobby pins.
Fluff the braids, and you have an adorable braid twist!
6. Pull-Through Ponytail
This pull-through ponytail has a really cute braid look (without the braiding)!
Divide the hair into two even ponytails, one on top of the other at the top of the head.
Place a small elastic about two inches from the base of the top ponytail and divide the hair in half to make a hole.
Pull the bottom ponytail up through the hole.
Create another ponytail and repeat the process all the way to the nape of the neck – or keep going to create a full ponytail.
7. Criss-Cross Pigtails
Create two small pigtails at the top of the head using only hair around the crown.
Criss-cross them over each other and gather with the remaining hair to create two full pigtails.
This cute hairstyle for girls is super easy, and you can create multiple pigtails to come up with different styles!
8. Bow Pigtails
This super cute hairstyle for girls is easier to pull off than you may think!
Start with high pigtails and use about one-third of the hair on the top of the pigtail to create a braid.
Take the rest of the hair and put an elastic a couple of inches down. Separate the piece above the elastic into two and flip the rest of the pigtail through.
Push the braid in through the top of the pigtail and push the elastic up into the base of the pigtail. Secure the entire thing with another elastic.
9. Fan Bun
This cute hairstyle for girls is also super easy to do!
Start with a high ponytail, loosening it a bit at the base.
Make a hole with two fingers and grab the ponytail. Pull it through, fan the hair, and wrap it around the base.
That’s it!
10. Crown Braid
Part the hair down the middle and separate it into two sections on the left and right sides.
Secure one side so you can work on the other without mixing them up.
Take the loose hair and split it into three sections at the nape of the neck, creating a Dutch or reverse French braid (you cross the strands underneath instead of on top).
Work around the side of the head and across the top of the forehead.
Finish the braid (don’t braid in the clipped section of hair) and secure with an elastic.
On the other side, start at the top of the head, doing the same braid until you reach the nape of the neck. Secure the braid.
Now, pull one of the braids from left to right and over the top fo the head, resting it a few inches away from the forehead. Secure with a bobby pin.
Pull the other braid in the opposite direction and push it up against the other braid. Secure with a bobby pin.
Now you have a braid that looks like a crown!
11. Topsy Tail
Okay, this is maybe the easiest hairstyle for girls in existence, but it looks super cute and elegant!
Make a ponytail and pull elastic about an inch away from the head.
Separate the hair between the head and the elastic to create a hole.
Lift the rest of the ponytail up and pull it through the hole from the top.
Tighten the ponytail, and you have a super easy and cute look!
12. Part-Less Pigtails
I love this new take on an old classic!
Divide the hair into two equal sections, one on top of the other.
Pull the top piece of hair to the side and clip it up. Take the bottom layer of hair and pull it to the opposite side to create the first pigtail.
Grab the hair that’s in the clip and make the second pigtail opposite the first one.
This gives it a really cool part-less look!
13. Pull-Through Side Braid
Using small elastics, create small ponytails along the top and side of the head. Gather the first ponytail and the third one back and create a new ponytail.
Grab the second ponytail and attach it to the fourth, and so on.
Fluff out the ponytails along the sides to create a super cute faux braid!
14. Bubble Buns
Bubble buns are an easy hairstyle for girls, requiring only a handful of elastics and a couple of minutes!
Divide hair into three sections horizontally.
To create the bubbles, pull each section into a ponytail but don’t pull the ponytail all the way through. Repeat this until you have three bubbles.
So easy!
What Are Some 5 Minute Hairstyles for Girls?
While the hairstyles I shared are pretty easy and can be fast, here are some quick hairstyles for girls you can do even if you don’t style hair!
15. The High Ponytail
This look is always fashionable and easy to put together.
Start by brushing your hair first and gathering it into a high ponytail at the top of your head. Secure with an elastic band and add volume by teasing the crown area with a comb.
To make this style look more polished, wrap small sections of hair around the elastic band for an elegant finish.
16. Braided Half Updo
If you want something that looks like you spent more time on it than you did, try this braided half updo – all in under five minutes!
Begin by parting your hair down the middle, then gather one side back into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic band.
Take three thin sections from the front of your face on either side and braid them separately before securing each braid at the bottom underneath your ponytail.
17. Messy Bun
The messy bun is another great option when you’re short on time because you can do it in less than a minute!
Gather all of your hair into a high ponytail at the top of your head or near the nape of your neck, then twist it around itself until it forms an updo shape.
Use bobby pins to secure any stray hairs or keep sections from unraveling throughout the day.
For added texture, lightly pull apart some pieces in different areas for that effortless “messy” look – plus, faster drying time if you go swimming!
18. Headband Roll
A little embellishment goes a long way when creating styles in record speed!
Put all of your hair into one big swoop over one shoulder (or simply half up/half down if that’s easier).
Then take a vibrant-colored headband – either patterned or solid color – and wrap it around where the ends meet in front — securing it towards the back with bobby pins if necessary.
Finally complete this look by adding some soft romantic curls around face framing layers which adds gentle feminine flair while also drawing attention away from any imperfections along edges that may not have been perfectly tucked away during initial styling process!
